1 Introduction

Toolz package is a set of tools managed by Effexoft's team. Effexoft uses these tools in their enterprise applications such as Effecta and in their implementations actively.

One of the tools in the Toolz package is Lookup rollup summaries, built based on open source code from Andrew Fawcett. Inspired by open source and with the thought of giving back to the Salesforce community, Effexoft has decided to make Toolz as a free tool forever.

2 List of Tools in the Toolz Package

The Toolz package provides two core tools: Lookup Rollup Summaries and Data Alerts.

1. Lookup Rollup Summaries

Lookup roll up summaries tool helps create and manage multiple roll up fields based on a lookup relationship as well as master-detail relationship.

Master-Detail Relationships:
  • Standard Salesforce: Count, Sum, Min, Max
  • Additional Toolz Features: Avg, Count Distinct, Concatenate, Concatenate Distinct, First, Last
Lookup Relationships:
  • Avg, Count, Count Distinct
  • Concatenate, Concatenate Distinct
  • First, Last, Max, Min, Sum

2. Data Alerts

Data keeps changing for various reasons and checking the data proactively for any inaccuracies is a very critical task. The Data Alerts tool in Toolz makes it an easy, automated task.

3 Installation & Prerequisites

3.1 Considerations before installing Toolz

  • Please install Toolz package in your Sandbox or in a Developer Edition first to make sure it meets your requirements.
  • Test the results with some sample test cases.
  • Since Toolz is a free tool, Effexoft provides standard documentation and limited support. Full consulting services for advanced use cases are also available.

3.2 Requirements before installation

Before installing the package, enable Chatter and Actions in your Salesforce org:

  1. Go to Setup | Feature Settings | Chatter | Chatter Settings
  2. Enable Chatter Settings
  3. Enable Actions in the Publisher

3.3 Installation Process

Install the Toolz managed package directly from Salesforce AppExchange:

4 Setup and Configuration – Lookup Rollup Summaries

After installation is complete, perform the following one-time Remote Site Setting setup:

Open App Launcher
Click on the App Launcher (9 dots icon in the top left), click "View All", and select "Toolz from Effexoft".

Go to Manage Rollups Tab
Click on the "Manage Rollups" tab. A configuration alert will appear.

Navigate to Welcome Setup Page
Click the link: "Click here to go to the Welcome page to complete configuration and setup!".

Create Remote Site Setting
Click the "Create Remote Site Setting" button. The message "Remote Site Setting Toolz_mdapi has been created" will appear.

Ready to Use!
Click on "Manage Rollups" again to start creating and configuring Lookup Rollup Summaries.

5 Setup and Configuration – Data Alerts

To configure Data Alert global settings in Salesforce:

  1. Go to Setup and search for Custom Meta.
  2. Click on Custom Metadata Types in the menu.
  3. Click on "Manage Records" next to Data Alert Settings.
  4. Click the "Default" link.
  5. Click "Edit" if you would like to customize settings such as Limit Records, Email when No Result, or Email after Batch Job.
Note: "Auto Delete Run Data" and "Auto Delete Run Data x Factor" fields are designated for automatic cleanup of historical run data.

6 Common Errors & Troubleshooting

6.1 Uncaught TypeError During Installation

If you encounter the error message Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'k' of undefined throws at: .../aura_prod.js while installing the Toolz package:

👉 Please ignore this message. This Salesforce Aura warning has no effect on the functionality or performance of the Toolz package.

7 Upgrades

Effexoft releases new versions of Toolz from time to time. You can upgrade simply by installing the latest version from AppExchange directly.

✓ You do NOT need to uninstall. Upgrading preserves all your existing Rollup Summaries and Data Alerts.

8 Uninstallation

If you have any questions or difficulties, email support-toolz@effexoft.com.

To uninstall: Go to Setup -> search Installed Packages -> click "Uninstall" next to Toolz from Effexoft.
